How to Get the Best Experience at Legoland California

If you have been considering a trip to Legoland California (or Florida!), you have come to the right place.Β We have recommendations for places to eat, can’t-miss attractions and other pertinent details to make your trip a smooth, unforgettable experience.

Choose Your Lodging

You have a few options for onsite lodging! There is the main Legoland hotel, and the Castle Hotel. Both hotels are right in front of the main entrance to the park.Β We absolutely recommend staying at one of these hotels. It is so convenient and worth it to us! At both Legoland Florida and California, we paid $65 for early check in at 1 PM. Both times, our rooms were ready before noon! Regardless, you may drop off your luggage and enjoy the park until your room is ready. There are also hotels surrounding the park that have special rates and accommodations for Legoland visitors. You can see the list HERE.

For onsite accommodations, check in is 4 PM, check out is 11 AM. All reservations are subject to a nightly resort fee that is $30 + tax. Resort fee includes wi-fi, local calls, swimming pool and towels, Lego Workshops, character meet and greets if applicable, and nightly entertainment. Parking is a separate, nightly fee. All details provided are subject to change. Please see direct links to desired park for up-to-date information.

The Main Legoland hotel is to the right of the main entrance to the park! Bricks Family Restaurant is located in this hotel and has free breakfast (with reservations).

Castle Hotel

The Castle hotel is also just steps from the main entrance to Legoland. The rooms are so much fun for the whole family. There is a separate sleeping area with a bunk bed, tv, and Lego station for the kids and a main area for adults. We chose the Castle hotel because it was very conveniently located, and a really fun theme! The Dragon’s Den is located within this hotel.

Noteworthy Activities

The Waterpark

We were really looking forward to the water park but it was not opened the day we spent at in the park! It has a lazy river, wave pool, lots of slides, and interactive Lego play areas. We will go back and check it out. There is a large calendar with separate tabs so that you can choose which park you want to know the exact hours of!

The Water Park is not automatically included in your Main Legoland park ticket if you are visiting for only the day unless you buy a multi-park day pass. However, if you book the vacation package, it includes all parks and the hotel stay. Double check when booking to make sure that all desired parks are included in your purchase.

Plan to rent a locker for around $15-$20 (depending on size) for the length of your stay in the waterpark. It was well worth it for us to spend $15 to keep our valuables safe and dry. Also, bring your own towels, there are none available unless you purchase them in the gift shop.

Visit the Sea Life Aquarium

The SEA LIFE Aquarium at Legoland California offers an immersive underwater adventure that delights and educates visitors of all ages. It features a diverse array of marine life, from colorful fish and playful sea turtles to majestic sharks and graceful rays. With interactive exhibits, engaging displays, and hands-on activities, guests can explore the wonders of the ocean and learn about marine conservation. The SEA LIFE Aquarium provides a perfect blend of fun and education.

Ferrari Build & Race

Obviously, we spent lots of time in the Ferrari building! We love cars, all kinds! Right when you walk in, there is a full size Lego Ferrari that you can check out! Beyond that, there are tons of areas to build cars and race them on different tracks. This is a really fun place to cool off and enjoy building!

MiniLand

Miniland at Legoland California is a captivating world in miniature, where iconic landmarks are brought to life with millions of Lego bricks. Wander through this intricate display and marvel at the detailed recreations of famous sites from across the United States and around the globe, including New York City, Las Vegas, and even scenes from Star Wars. You can walk through, or take the Cruise mentioned belowΒ to see it from a different perspective!

Coast Cruise

The Coast Cruise is a delightful and scenic boat ride that takes guests on a relaxing journey through beautiful waterways. This popular attraction features captivating views of iconic landmarks around MiniLand, including world-famous buildings recreated with Lego bricks! As you glide along the water, enjoy informative and entertaining commentary that brings each Lego model to life. Perfect for guests of all ages!

Things To Remember For A Fantastic Trip!

Download your park tickets onto your phone for quick retrieval at the gate. Each member of your party has their own page and unique barcode in your travel documents. They will all be scanned at the main entrance and the waterpark entrance.

Book Early Check In!Β I can’t recommend this enough! We paid $65 total for early check-in to be guaranteed a room by 1:00 PM. We received a text that our room was actually ready before Noon. This is a great way to make use of that first day in the park without having to worry about your luggage.

Take a look at the map ahead of time so that you can get an idea of how the parks are laid out. This will help you prioritize rides and attractions efficiently!

Don’t forget your sunscreen, hats & sunglasses. California is nice and sunny a majority of the time.

Arrive early to avoid larger crowds, especially on the weekend. I recommend going during the week for a much more enjoyable experience.

Stay hydrated and take plenty of breaks. There are plenty of opportunities to step out of the sun into stores, restaurants, giftshops and indoor attractions.

Wear proper shoes and clothing for lots of walking. Don’t overpack and weigh yourself down with heavy backpacks or a large wagon to drag around.

Check show schedules so that you don’t miss the live shows and performances throughout the day.

Legoland is cashless so you can leave your cash in the hotel room safe.

Have fun!!!!
