Tahiti Village - A Somerpointe Resort
They had me at Tahiti! Since we can’t always be on the islands in the middle of the Pacific ocean, I love when we can find Polynesian and island-inspired experiences. Tahiti village is just 2 miles from the Las Vegas Strip and south of the airport. It has a spa, fitness center, concierge, activity center, 2 onsite restaurants, area shuttle and a Polynesian themed pool area with a lazy river! We all absolutely loved the lazy river! The whole property is beautiful but this was where you could have found us at any given moment during our visit. Once you are ready to hit the town, a complimentary shuttle is available for guests with a few different pickup and drop off locations. You simply need to take your room key with you and note the schedule!

Hilton Lake Las Vegas
The first night of our trip, Saturday, Tahiti Village was not available. Since I wanted to see Valley of Fire, I thought Hilton Lake Las Vegas would be perfect for the first night since it was out that direction anyway. Bonus: We were able to use a reward night! so we simply paid for the breakfast buffet in the morning at the Medici Cafe and Terrace.
This place was gorgeous! We got a room over the water so the views were epic. It is a very large property that is about 30 minutes from the Las Vegas strip. It has an outdoor pool, a fitness center, spa, and is right next to a Tuscan-inspired shopping village.

17 Degrees South Booze & Bites • Relaxed and sophisticated, locally sourced seafood and premium steaks, 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM, Wednesday-Sunday, Reservations
OliOli Shave Ice & Eats • The grand opening was May 25th, 2024, so this place is still brand new. It is open daily from 11AM-5PM, and located in the main pool area.
Arturo’s Village Pizza • Voted best pizza in Vegas since 2020! It is open from 11AM-10PM daily and is located within the resort.
Wiki Wiki & The Village Cafe • The Wiki Wiki store is a convenience store located right in the main lobby that has been recently remodeled with lots of groceries, snacks, beverages, souvenirs and more. It includes the Village Cafe where you can grab a quick bite to eat on the run. This is also where you can grab a warm cup of Peet’s Coffee each morning.
The Sand Box Bar • There is a Sand Box Bar in both the lazy river area and the main pool area! They are tiki-themed tropical bars serving up all of the classics.
Dining on Las Vegas Blvd
Town Square • A shopping, dining & entertainment plaza with SO much to choose from! It is right across the Blvd from Tahiti Village & really close to the airport. If you are super hungry when you get off the plane like us, this is the place to stop! We went to Yard House, but there are endless options for dinner here!
BrewDog • If you are looking for an awesome view overlooking the strip, BrewDog has a really cool rooftop outdoor space to hang out, good food to eat and a fun vibe for drinks!
Secret Pizza • Looking for Secret Pizza is so fun, but the pizza also tastes REALLY good. The only hint I’ll give you, is that it is in the Cosmopolitan!
Things To Do
Stroll Down the Strip (Obviously!)
We had a blast walking up and down the strip! We got a gorgeous view of Las Vegas Blvd from the rooftop of BrewDog. We got to see the Bellagio Fountain show, go shopping at places like the Coca-Cola store, 4 levels of the M&M store and Hershey Chocolate World! The strip felt very safe and reasonable during the day. The latest we stayed out was on our last evening and that was only until about 9:30 PM. I can imagine the after-10PM crowd might be a little different!
Here are all of our favorites & things that we would like to make sure we do next time:
The Coca Cola Store • These stores aren’t simply stores. They are a whole experience! Of course, there are plenty of souvenirs to choose from, but you can also go up to the cafe and do a flight of coca cola from around the globe with their Taste of World tray!
The M&M Store • Again, not just a store! This was the very first M&M store ever. This one has 28,000 sq feet spread over 4 levels and a race car! You can create your very own, one-of-a-kind M&M’s right on site.
Bellagio Fountain Show • This is a must if you are in town! The schedule is on the Bellagio website. There is plenty of space for everyone to enjoy the show. They happen every day, though the schedule may vary.
Meow Wolf Las Vegas • We have been to the original Meow Wolf in Santa Fe and had a blast! We didn’t make it to the Omega Mart this past trip, but will definitely plan to on the next visit. It is highly recommended!
Visit the Container Park
The Downtown Container Park is a quirky open-air shopping center filled with shops, restaurants, and live entertainment. We went when it was really hot so there were not a lot of people there. We did shop around a bit before walking a few blocks down to Fremont Street!
Fremont Street
All I can say is, WOW. Fremont street is definitely worth a visit. Even at the hottest time of day, it was brimming with fun, vibrant energy! Every few minutes, another adventurous individual would soar above you on the zipline. “Michael Jackson” filled the street with his impressive impersonation until a light show stole our attention! It was really fun for the short time we were there. I would include another visit here on our next trip!
The Sphere
We only did a drive by of the Sphere, but we had to see it! There are a few different types of events that go on here, including their signature immersive experiences, live music and other interesting shows. I’m sure it is pretty interesting to go inside, but we enjoyed just driving closely by it!
Take a drive out to Valley of Fire State Park
Grab plenty of water, hop in the car, and take a trip out to this gorgeous Nevada State Park! We were staying out in Lake Las Vegas for the first night of our trip, so we came up from the south past Lake Mead. It felt like another planet in some parts! You can drive the whole way through the park on Valley of Fire Highway and head back to Vegas from the Northeast side on Rt 15. Like most of Las Vegas in the Summer, it was VERY hot, so we were careful how long we were out and how far away we got from our car. Some of the park was closed off due to excessive heat danger. No worries, though! There was still plenty to see, including Elephant Rock, the Seven Sisters, Balancing Rock, and the Beehives! Be sure to stop by the Visitors Center.
Hoover Dam
The Hoover Dam is so neat! Mr. Hableway used to work in power plants and other industrial atmospheres, so he was most excited to do the tour. There was a lot of remodeling going on, so we missed a lot of the exhibits on the middle floor but still got to see the turbines and learned more about the history and processes of the dam! If you opt not to do any tours, you can still walk across the bridge for free and go to the visitors center. On the Nevada side, there is a paid parking garage and on the Arizona side, there are parking lots that you can park in for free and walk down to the bridge. We all really enjoyed visiting the Hoover Dam and would recommend the tour!
